Late Night Hate

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon debuted last night.
I was excited to see how Jimmy Fallon would perform on a late night talk show. I had been anticipating the shows debut for a couple of weeks by following Jimmy on twitter and reading up on his wikipedia page. All of this leading up to last night. So what did I think?I thought the show was pretty good. It wasn’t anything extraordinary. You could obviously tell he was a little nervous and a little scatter brained.Highlights from the show were definitely “slow jamming” the news, The Roots as the house band, and Robert DeNiro’s impression of Jimmy Fallon. The interviews were decent, though it seemed like the interviewee’s lead the conversations.
I didn’t really expect it to be anything different. It was his first show. However, it seems like a lot of people hated it. This really bugged me. A lot of people started hating on him (link, link, link are just a few examples of the haters). Yeah it was a slow start, but as Jimmy says, “our 10th show will be better than the first. Our 50th show better than the 10th”. Give it some time people. You’ve obviously forgotten how bad Conan was in the first 3 years. Did you know NBC almost cancelled his ass (source)?
I think Jimmy can pull it off. I really like the direction he’s pulling the show. They’ve got some cool ideas and I think it’ll be a great success. I can’t wait to see the Rachael Ray episode…
